EURHOiA gardens

Our landscape is dominated by two huge common alder trees, Möhkö and Muhku. Those and other large trees create their own unique atmosphere and provide shelter between the warm central courtyard and the lake.

The grandma’s cottage garden is full of  fragrant flowers and nutritious edible plants, which are also a delight for pollinators and birds. So you’ll hear the improvisation of nightingales, the clicking of woodpeckers, the clucking of cuckoos and the buzzing of bees.

Our potager garden include vegetables and fruits of course but also edible flowers, allowing visitors to add a delicious twist to the experience.

In the Zen garden, on the other hand, you can relax and recuperate, enjoying the tranquil lake view in the company of some rare plants.

The shadier woodland garden provides good conditions for things like rhododendrons and azaleas. It allows you to sit on our small romantic seating area by the clean and safe lake Pinkjärvi.

EURHOiA premises

At the top of our old barn, you’ll find our rustic-boho meeting and partying space, which overlooks the Lake Pinkjärvi, its breathtaking natural and creative lake views. There is room for 24 people. Downstairs there is a covered area for catering or even a band and a small dance floor. Large tents can also be brought into the garden in case of rain.

The premises can also be rented for private use.

There are several seating areas on the dock and by the lake, so you can also hold your meeting ”al fresco”, when the weather allows, listening frogs croaking and birds singing.

Whatever suits your group best, we’ll tailor the occasion, its activities and catering to your wishes – for your wellbeing.

The Essence of Our Sustainable Practices:

Locally Sourced Ingredients

Our commitment to sustainability begins with the ingredients we use in our food. A significant portion of our ingredients comes from our own beach, garden, and yard, ensuring freshness and reducing the carbon footprint associated with food transportation. The nearby forest also provides us with a rich bounty of natural resources. When additional ingredients are needed, we strive to source them locally, drawing from the diverse repertoire of Finnish production. This not only supports local farmers and producers but also promotes the consumption of seasonal and organic products, further enhancing the sustainability of our practices.

Our Own Beach, Gardens, and Yard

Our beach, gardens, and yard are more than just sources of ingredients; they are integral parts of our ecosystem. We cultivate a variety of fruits, vegetables, herbs, and spices, ensuring that our dishes are infused with the freshest flavors. The beach provides us with unique coastal ingredients, while the yard offers an abundance of produce that is grown using organic methods. By nurturing our own land, we can guarantee the quality and sustainability of the ingredients that make their way into our kitchen.

Nearby Forest

The nearby forest is a treasure trove of wild edibles and natural ingredients. From mushrooms and berries to herbs and edible flowers, the forest supplies us with a wealth of flavors that are both unique and sustainable. Foraging in the forest connects us to the natural world and allows us to offer dishes that are truly reflective of our local environment.

Finnish Production

When we need to supplement our own harvests, we turn to Finnish producers who share our commitment to sustainability. By sourcing locally, we reduce the environmental impact of transportation and support the resilience of the local food system. Finnish production offers a diverse array of ingredients that are grown and produced with care and respect for the environment.

Recycled and Upcycled Furnishings

Our dedication to sustainability extends beyond the ingredients we use. The furniture, decorations, and crockery in our premises are primarily sourced from recycled finds. This approach not only reduces waste but also adds character and history to our spaces. We also use recycled building materials, avoiding the need to buy new and minimizing excessive spending.

Furniture and Decorations

Each piece of furniture and decoration in our premises tells a story. By sourcing these items from recycled finds, we give new life to objects that might otherwise have been discarded. This process of upcycling not only conserves resources but also creates a unique and inviting atmosphere that reflects our sustainable ethos.

Building Materials

Recycled building materials are used in the construction and renovation of our spaces. This approach reduces the demand for new resources and minimizes the environmental impact of our projects. By repurposing materials, we contribute to a circular economy and demonstrate our commitment to sustainability.

Waste Management and Eco-Friendly Practices

We are dedicated to minimizing waste and adopting eco-friendly practices in all aspects of our operations. We avoid the use of plastic, instead opting for materials that can be sorted, recycled, and composted. This includes the products from our composting toilets. Additionally, our choice of detergents, red clay and lime paints, and napkins are all ecological and/or eco-labelled. The nutrients used in our garden are organic, further supporting our sustainable practices.

Plastic Avoidance and Waste Sorting

Plastic pollution is a significant environmental issue, and we take active steps to avoid using plastic in our operations. Instead, we choose materials that can be easily sorted and recycled. Our waste sorting system ensures that recyclable materials are properly processed, while organic waste is composted to enrich our garden soil.

Ecological Products

The detergents, red clay and lime paints, and napkins we use are chosen for their ecological credentials. Eco-labelled products meet stringent environmental standards, ensuring that our operations have a minimal impact on the planet. By using these products, we contribute to a healthier environment and promote eco-friendly practices.

Organic Nutrients

The nutrients used in our garden are entirely organic, supporting the health of our plants and the sustainability of our practices. Organic nutrients improve soil quality, enhance plant growth, and reduce the need for synthetic fertilizers. This approach not only benefits our garden but also contributes to a healthier ecosystem.

Conclusion

Our commitment to sustainability is woven into every aspect of our operations, from the ingredients we use to the furnishings in our spaces and the waste management practices we adopt. By sourcing locally, upcycling materials, and choosing eco-friendly products, we ensure that our practices are in harmony with the environment. We believe that sustainability is not just a choice, but a responsibility we owe to future generations. Together, we can create a future where both people and the planet thrive in harmony.
