Discover the Magic of our Sensory Garden Tour:
An Enriching Experience
Our sensory garden tour offers a unique opportunity to connect with nature in a way that engages all five senses: sight, sound, touch, taste, and smell.
What is a Sensory Garden?
Our serene zen garden, rustic grandma’s garden and potager garden are specially designed spaces that encourages visitors to explore their senses through various plants, textures, colours, and fragrances. These gardens are created for individuals of all ages and abilities, making them inclusive spaces for everyone. Whether you are a nature lover, a plant enthusiastic, a caregiver, or simply seeking a peaceful escape, these gardens can provide profound well-being benefits and experiences.
♥
The landscape of our garden is dominated by two majestic common alders, affectionately named Möhkö and Muhku. These towering trees, along with the atmospheric, mossy crack willow that lingers on the beach, create a unique ambiance. Their presence not only adds to the garden’s charm but also offers a natural shelter, bridging the warm courtyard and the tranquil lake Pinkjärvi.
Our carefully designed gardens include pathways, several seating areas with constantly varying view to lake Pinkjärvi, and sensory activities that encourage exploration and interaction, making the experience dynamic and engaging.

Diverse Plant Life
Our gardens are filled with a variety of plants that cater to different senses. For instance, fragrant flowers like mock oranges, roses, lilacs, lavender, and rosemary provide delightful aromas, while vibrant blooms like peonies and lilies appeal to our sense of sight. The diverse plant life not only offers a feast for the eyes but also supports local biodiversity, attracting and bringing great joy to pollinators like bees and fascinating butterflies.

Textural Variety
The tactile experience is enhanced through the inclusion of plants with various textures. Soft lamb’s ears, prickly junipers, and smooth larch and moss invite visitors to touch and explore. This variety in texture encourages tactile stimulation, which can be particularly beneficial for individuals with sensory processing disorders or those seeking a more hands-on interaction with nature.

Soundscapes
Decorative grasses and rustling leaves create a peaceful soundscape, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the calming sounds of nature. You can hear the improvisation of the nightingale, the knock of a woodpecker, the sound of a cuckoo, and the gentle hum of bees as they fly from flower to flower. These natural soundscapes soothe the soul. Tones of wind chimes provide a soothing backdrop, enhancing the overall sensory experience.

Edible Plants and Flower Food
Our gardens include edible plants and flowers, allowing visitors to add a delicious twist to the experience.
The floral food, drink, pastries, and dessert we offer are always made from our garden’s best seasonal ingredients. Fresh herbs, vegetables, edible flowers, and fruits harvested from our garden ensure that every culinary creation is infused with the essence of nature. These flavourful delights not only tantalize the taste buds but also showcase the bounty of our sensory garden, turning every meal into a celebration of the seasons.
♥ NOTE! Maybe your group would like to enjoy also our flower food?

Good to Know about Benefits of Sensory Gardens
Sensory garden offer numerous benefits for physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. Here are some of the key advantages:

Sensory gardens encourage physical activity through walking, gardening, and other interactive elements. Emotional Wellbeing
The sensory experiences provided by these gardens can evoke positive emotions and foster a sense of joy and wonder. Engaging with nature has been linked to increased levels of serotonin, the ”feel-good” hormone, which can boost mood and enhance emotional wellbeing. Sensory gardens offer a sanctuary where individuals can escape the pressures of daily life and reconnect with their inner selves.
